HOSM Bridge Club
Holme on Spalding Moor
Covid-safe play
These procedures were agreed by the committee on 15 July, and amended at the AGM on 4 October. We will regularly review them to ensure they remain appropriate. Here is a summary of key points:
Players who are not fully vaccinated must have a negative Lateral Flow Test on the day of play. Players must not attend if they or anyone in their hosehold has had Covid-19 symptoms within the last 7 days. Players are encouraged to wear a face covering if they are able to do so.
Any player who develops Covid-19 symptoms within 7 days of playing at the club must immediately contact a member of the committee to allow us to alert other players.
Hand-sanitiser will be provided on every table, and players are encouraged to use it at the start of each round. Windows will be opened to improve ventilation – we will have the heating on when needed to maintain a comfortable temperature, but please be aware that some tables may experience more of a draft. (Amended 4 Oct)
Players should bring their own pen with them and keep it for scoring. Players will be given a bidding box at the start of the evening and should keep it with them all evening.
There will be no refreshment break, but players are welcome to bring a drink and a snack if they want to. Players may use the kitchen facilities to make a hot drink (we will provide teabags, coffee and CoffeeMate) before play starts or when sitting out, and are responsible for clearing up afterwards. (Amended 4 Oct)
Unless we have fewer than 4 full tables, we will play a Mitchell to reduce the number of times players move, and we will keep the evening slightly shorter than usual.
Non-members are welcome to play, but will be required to give contact details for track-and-trace purposes.
Players may choose to pay online (BACS), or pay for multiple sessions at a time, to reduce cash handling.
The committee, and any other willing volunteers, will clean all touch points at the start and end of the session, in line with the requirements of the village hall.
Cards, bidding boxes and other equipment are only used once a week, and so will not need to be cleaned between sessions as the risk of any active virus remaining after a week is negligible.
